How to install the Multi User version.

When you have completed your installation, make sure to go through the Installation Checklist.
This will ensure you have installed correctly and that if there are any problems, the checking process may resolve them.

There are a series of network recommendations here > Networking Recommendations

Network Installation

Important

  • There are two different routines for installing SoEasy to a network site.
    • Both routines use the same installation disk or web files.
    • The installation disk/files must be the multi user version of SoEasy.
  • It is vital to be logged on to the server and workstations as Administrator to avoid file sharing problems
  • Monitor resolutions should be set to a minimum of 1024 * 768 pixels
  • Printers should be installed to the PC’s before installing SoEasy

Optional Requirements

  • Internet connection (for using the web support centre and email functionality)
  • MS Office or Open Office

 Important Recommendations

  1. Always install SoEasy when you are logged on to the PC with ‘Administrator’ privileges. This avoids file sharing issues.
  2. SoEasy will want to install to the directory C:\SOEASY. Leave it as this directory unless you know exactly what you are doing.
  3. If changing the installation directory, make sure the directory root for SoEasy is called SOEASY.

Networking Recommendations

Please review the following recommendations:

  1. Do not network a non-network version of SoEasy, as this will corrupt your data. (If the Front Company Menu has 'Single User' on it then it is not a network product. Contact SoEasy for the appropriate disc and licences
  2. After installation go through the checklist and mark the points off on each pc.
  3. Wireless networks are very convenient when you are opening a spreadsheet or document that is just one file. But when it comes to opening 100s of concurrent network files, such as in SoEasy or many other networkable programs, there can be problems. The errors are trapped by SoEasy and it can handle most things but the statistical chances of data corruptions are increased and the speed of a wireless connection is slow. For example, a fixed cable network will run at a speed of 100MB/s whereas a wireless network runs at best 10MB/s and this speed can drop to 0MB/s, for many reasons, and cause loss of file connections. SoEasy will still work on a wireless connection but if it can be avoided run a cable to the pc and enjoy the speed of a strong connection.
  4. Your IT Professional can best advise you on what hardware to run. SoEasy is not memory or system hungry and will run on most systems but you cannot beat a good processor speed and a good size of RAM.
  5. Maintenance of your system is an absolute must! A sick computer is going to affect everyone but with regular maintenance you should experience little problem with your system. Every 30 days our recommended maintenance procedure reminds you of what is required on each pc.
  6. Back ups are essential and should be performed daily. It is worthwhile having your IT Professional set up a back up routine for you. Our recommendations and specifications can be viewed by opening The Front Company Menu - Backup/Restore - video & help.
  7. Keep your system up-to-date. SoEasy releases updates frequently and are created from the collective knowledge of systems and performance issues. We highly recommend joining our service and support program as this ensures you are kept up-to-date and provides you with Yearly Updates as well.
  8. Choose the right Antivirus to protect your system. The wrong Antivirus can slow your system performance by over 300%! Our recommended Antivirus is NOD32
  9. Try to have a separate server. Many people us a workstation to hold the SoEasy files, which is fine but eventually system performance will dictate that an appropriate network configuration be made.
  10. If a workstation is slow get it fixed. The weakest link in your network can affect all other users and corrupt data.

Troubleshooting

When I click on the SoEasy icon, the Program will not load.

  1. Re-boot your PC

I have re-booted my PC but the program will still not load.

  1. Re-install SoEasy onto your PC

I get the message "Invalid Network Lock File"

  1. Close SoEasy and make sure all other users are logged off the system
  2. On the server, open SoEasy to The Front Company Menu
  3. Take a back up of your data
  4. Select Maintenance
  5. Select Reorganise Files
  6. Select the company name you wish to reorganise the files for
  7. Follow the prompts
  8. Open SoEasy again

I have a Printer Problem

  • Check that the printer actually works on your PC by opening another application and trying to print something
  • Open The Front Company Menu
  • Select the button Set Printers
  • Set the Printers by selecting the Reports printer button first

When I open SoEasy on a workstation I get a message similar to 'File open for exclusive access'

Make sure you have installed the network version of SoEasy

On The Server:
  • Check that you have provided everyone with FULL access to the SOEASY directory see Share the SOEASY directory
  • Select Start - Run and type in 'superbas.ini' and select OK
  • This should open up the superbas.ini file
  • Make sure the line sblocal=none is in the file
  • Locate the SOEASY directory in Explorer or My Computer
  • Right click on the SOEASY directory and choose 'Properties'
  • Select the General tab and make sure the 'Read Only' attribute is de-selected and choose Apply.
  • Apply changes to this folders, sub folders and files
  • The read only attribute may be reselected after the process, which is normal, but the effect will be achieved
  • Select the Sharing Tab and make sure 'Share this folder on the Network' and 'Allow network users to change my files' are selected

On The Workstation

  1. Repeate the procedure as per the Server above except you do not need to provide everyone with full access, step 1
Re test the connection by:
  1. Open SoEasy on the server to the Platform Module
  2. Open SoEasy on the workstations to the Platform Module

Results

If the problem is resolved then well done! If not there is a strong possibility that either:
  • The users privelages do not allow themn to change files on the server or...
  • During installation of SoEasy you were not loged on as the Administrator

Book an installation service where our trained technicians can connect to the PC's over the Internet and review the installation.
