Remote Desktop installation instructions
You can connect to your Server from home, overseas, or from a laptop on the road by using many different applications.
Connection options include Remote Desktop Connection, which is an application available in several Windows versions including
- Windows Professional
- Windows Server 2000, 2003, 2008
You will require broadband at each location and a static IP address at the location of the server. To achieve this please contact your Internet Service Provider or your telephone service provider.
It is important to note that we do not provide a service for performing or maintaining such connections as it is best left up to your IT professional to establish and maintain such a connection.
Please contact your local IT Professional to set up and create the connection. The following notes will be of assistance to them:
- SoEasy should be installed to the server as per the Single or Multi User Instructions
- If connecting to XP Professional please remember that the connected to computer will be taken over by a user connecting to the target server
- In the SoEasy Front Company Menu - Options section - Request Printer, you can select that the system will prompt the user to specify the printer they are connecting to each time they log on to SoEasy.
- This is an important setting as Windows will create a different default printer name each time a user logs on and SoEasy needs to know this name in order to print.
- It is our experience that some routers, if they are switched off, loose the static IP address. Please make sure the set up instructions, IP address details, and user name and passwords are written down for the client and stored in a safe place.
- Please make sure to instruct the client to close the program down after they have finished using a remote session. Otherwise problems will occur.
- If using Zone Alarm or other Firewall software, please make sure they are configured correctly and do not have the ability to block the connection.
